Happy New Year!


Here's your friendly reminder to clean out that fridge and start the New Year out Fresh.


Got some bread in there that's getting a little stale? Get creAtive and make some homemade Croutons! Not only do they taste wayyy better than factory packaged Croutons, but they are wayyyy healthier for you too! Most croutons you find in the store are packed with preservatives and additives that are harmful to your body.

This crouton recipe is easy to make with bread, olive oil and basic seasoning.

Ingredients:

-4 large slices of crusty bread, about ¾-inch thick (about 8 ounce)

-4 tablespoon extra virgin olive oil/or avocado oil

-½ teaspoon fine salt

-¼ teaspoon garlic parsley/Italian seasoning

-Freshly ground black pepper, to taste


Directions:


-Heat the oil in a large skillet or frying pan over medium-high heat until shimmering.


-Add the bread cubes to the pan, sprinkle with 1 teaspoon salt, toss to coat with the oil, and arrange in a single layer


-Toast the bread, tossing every minute or so, until the bread cubes are golden-brown on all sides, about 5 minutes total.


-Remove the pan from the heat. Taste and season with additional salt if needed. Serve immediately or let cool completely.


-Store in container for 1 week
